Get your kicks on Route 66. Yesterday we stopped at one of the suggested stops along the famous route. We explored the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum in downtown Joliet, IL.
Very interesting displays about legendary music makers from Illinois, including Cheap Trick, Muddy Waters, and REO Speedwagon. The tour guide seemed to know everything.
If you’re a music fan or history buff, you’ll love it. There is a lot to see on their first floor, including an actual radio station booth. There will be much more once they open the upper floors. The volunteers were very eager to answer questions or point us in the right direction.

I had no idea the museum was there, so I’m glad we stopped. (I think the $10 fee kicks in when they finish construction.) PS: The Joliet Historical Museum is right around the corner and a great place to visit, too.

This 2001 documentary in the link, narrated by Bob Sirott, featured mid-to-late 60’s Chicago-area ‘garage’ bands with their hits: Chicago, New Colony Six, Buckinghams, Shadows of Knight, Ides of March, Cryan’ Shames, and American Breed, all my favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3p-lqKYu2g
