Do yourself a favor and read this book. Trust No One, Promise Nothing is the human side of an Italian Mafia crime drama. Ginger Wakem did her research well and did a terrific job of turning actual unsolved true crime stories into elements of her fictional phycological thriller. You will find yourself rooting for one of the bad guys, because the author exposes his personal trauma which shaped his personality, choices, and actions. In my mind, the Mafia toughs in this novel look like Vito and Michael Corleone, but Ginger’s character’s personal story is more interesting.
Ginger Wakem has always armed herself with researched information to do battle with whatever issues popped up in her life. When she worked for personal injury attorneys, she took pride in digging for the truth of every case. When her son developed Tourette’s Syndrome, she dug for a cure and found it, which led to her documentary being aired on the BBC.
While self-employed, she used her writing skills to write magazine articles, handbooks, brochures, website content, and a very well- received pamphlet in English and Spanish.
When a detached retina sidelined her computer work for her company, she took up photography and Photoshop with a vengeance. Her photos have won awards, her coffee table photo book sold out, and photos on her website (www.ggwakem.photos) still bring in sales.
Ginger started writing Trust No One, Promise Nothing in 2018 when her characters wouldn’t let her sleep. A short, first draft told her she could write fiction, so she dove into perfecting her skills. She joined Gulf Coast Writers shortly after her personal story of surviving Hurricane Ian was accepted in their anthology, Storm Stories in 2023.
With her characteristic dedication Ginger has jumped into helping keep Gulf Coast Writers Association a top-notch group and celebrating and supporting other authors. She is also an award-winning member of Florida Authors and Publishers.
