Made to Last Forever – A Review

Sharmin Fairbanks McKenny seems to be on the same writing journey as I am …. turning fascinating genealogy facts into compelling historical novels.  Sharmin’s book will be released October 1st, and I can’t wait to read about her family’s journey from Old World to New. She has traced the legacy of the Fairbanks family—builders of the oldest timber-frame house standing in the United States, constructed in 1637. Her story is rich in historical detail, intrigue and emotion as it explores early colonial life.

Sharmin’s ancestors, Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks fled the plague and religious and political turmoil of 17th century England in search for a better life. With their young family, they brave the perilous journey across the Atlantic, arriving in the wilderness of Massachusetts Bay Colony where they were met with adversity and suspicion.

Sharmin Fairbanks McKenny, the author, grew up on a traditional family farm and soloed in an airplane before she drove a car. Her career in nursing included pioneering as an early civilian emergency helicopter flight nurse. Sharmin has written for newspapers, historical societies, museums, and received a writing award from the National Daughters of the American Revolution.
